Day 58..Sober but not Sexy

Now that I am not glugging wine multiple days out of the week I thought I would have dropped some weight.  NOT.  I really am a creature of habit.  I drank too much..habit and now I eat too much, specifically sweets and carbs…habit.  

I use to be fit and fabulous.  Now I’m fat and frumpy. This needs to change. I know it is going to take effort and constant vigilance. The same thing it takes to be sober.  Either way both bad habits involve indulging. Self control and discipline is what it will take.  I know I have it in me.  I have proven that the last 58 days.  So since counting/numbers seems to be a theme I’m going to try the 21 day fix. Wish me luck!!😜

  1. Your beauty shines through your writing. You are gorgeous as you are but good for you for wanting to take care of your body. It will come. For me, it’s frustrating because I thought I would drop 10 pounds effortlessly. Or as effortlessly as not drinking would get me! Didn’t happen- happens more slowly now because (ahem) I am older. 😦

  2. I strongly recommend against this.
    Sobriety is not about deprivation and willpower, it’s about finding a way to live that’s kinder and gentler.

    Dieting is restrictive and critical. Most of us have spent years criticizing ourselves.

    Staying sober is a huge win. It’s a hard thing to do. Consider giving yourself more time before doing anything that makes life harder.

  3. Yikes. Sorry, I didn’t mean to sound so preachy. But so many people try to change everything…us drinkers are definitely all or nothing thinkers….and end up overwhelmed and unhappy.

    Celebrate being sober. There’s so much more time for diets.

  4. Hi πŸ™‚ While I was drinking I dropped a lot of weight. When I stopped, I jumped on sweets and according to what I heard from other addicts it is completely natural and typical. Alcohol is sugar so no wonder we crave it πŸ˜‰
